Roy Martina Talks About Discovering What is the Still Point?
The Still-point is where we are in Equanimity. Equanimity is the state of love, peace, harmony and the knowing all is perfect as it is; we are resonating with our Highest Essence. Most people experience this listening to a beautiful concert, watching a nice movie, holding a new born baby in their hands, walking on a beach seeing the marvelous color play of the sunset etc. Not all people can at will be in a still point. Life takes us into its powerful multi-sensory illusion that we experience as a biochemical projection in our brains that is so addictive that we cannot take our eyes of it and stay immersed in the provoked emotional smorgasbord that we call being human. So we are constantly distracted from our Still points and fully immersed in to the material 3 Dimensional reality. The yogi’s in India are seeking enlightenment which means they are only resonating with the transcending experience of our Divine Self, It is like being God because you can only be love and you are at that point the pure expression of love.
So if we look at the human range of emotions (Emotional Scale), when we hit rock bottom we are in darkness. Which is often called depression. We are indifferent to the world and fully immersed in our darkest nightmare that nothing matters anymore. We don’t care if we live or die. We don’t care about others or anything else; we are numb to the outside world and completely alone with our darkest thoughts.
Then we have anger-fear-frustration-sadness and other emotions in a degree of intensity. We can be stuck in certain emotions more than others and become an angry, fearful or shy person. Then we have the neutral point (zero point or still-point) where we are like a witness without feelings or emotions. We are just registering or observing and have no opinions. This is the best state to take decisions and make choices because you are detached of the outcome and you have a choice how you want to feel; self-confident, happy, ecstatic or blessed. You choose and you connect with those feelings.
At the highest level there is bliss: the state where you are resonating with happiness and unconditional love. You are in the mode to do at random acts of kindness as your preferred way of living. The way to find your starting point (still-point) is using Emotional Balance and you can read all about it in my book coincidentally called Emotional Balance.

What is Emotional Imbalance? Emotions and Dis-Ease
Emotional Imbalance is when we are not connected to our true essence or higher self. Emotional Balance is the set of skills one has to achieve the state of Equanimity (love, peace , harmony etc).
Emotional Imbalance can be divided in 3 stages:
- Acute Stage
- Processing state
- Resolved state or unresolved state.
In the acute stage we are in the middle of the emotions and we have to deal with them or we allow ourselves to be overcome by them. We can choose to:
- Deal with them right away and transform, release or express them or
- We can suppress them or park them for dealing with them later. Ignoring them or pretending nothing is happening is also a way of suppressing.
If we have the right techniques as taught in my book Emotional Balance we can deal with our emotions right away and accept , process and transform them. If we don’t we can suppress or park them. Parking meets you will deal with them later for example when you are calmed down and see things better. Some people park them and never return to them. All that you suppress will have detrimental effect on your energy balance and will sooner or later become a source of dis-ease in your body or mind. So if you have a lot of suppressed aggression you become passive aggressive or sarcastic. If you have suppressed fear you become insecure in certain situations, etc. It can also affect you on a physical level as your energy system may be disturbed and affect your organs, your immune system or your endocrinal imbalance. Most chronic disease start out as an energetic or emotional imbalance. So it is best to learn how to process your unresolved emotions. Then you resolve the emotional imbalance and healing is the result. That would be the most preferred state.

7 Steps to Finding Emotional Balance by Dr Roy Martina
Emotional Balance is Emotional Intelligence. Emotional Intelligence is the set of qualities and skills one has to achieve the following:
- Not to take what others say, do or don’t do personal but to realize everyone is entitled to have their opinions (false or correct) criticism, compliments, expectations and emotional reactions to what they think to observe or not to observe in you.
- To be able to speak your truth without the fear that you may hurt someone because they do not agree with your view of the world or how you see them. Communication is an art and speaking your truth can be intentionally or unintentionally hurtful. The goal is to be heard and that means to learn how to communicate your truth the best way to get the maximal impact and response that will invite both parties to respect each other. Impeccable speech is respectful and based on honesty and love.
- To be able to clearly communicate your boundaries, saying no to what you don’t want and to be clear about your motivations of your actions.
- To fully take responsibility for your emotions, how you feel and to know you always have a choice in how you want to feel. Your best option is to accept how you feel, understand why you feel like that and to balance the emotional disturbance. Return to a still point of neutrality so you can observe the situation without the influence of your ego and past and to make the best decision under the circumstances.
- To know that every person is a mirror on which you project your unresolved issues of the past, react to that projection and they do the same towards you. By knowing this you can make the situation less personal and take responsibility to heal your past, so the same person or situation no longer provoke an emotional response.
- To know that the purpose of life is to reach that state of Equanimity under all circumstances and that that is your only goal to make that path of learning joyful
- To know that all challenges are created by your own spirit to have you connect with the true power inside of you and that there is no one to blame for your experience and that in the end you can transform all experiences into powerful lessons.

How to Begin the Journey Home to Your True Self
Holistic medical doctor and bestselling author Roy Martina, M.D., offers his tips for how to move past self-sabotaging thoughts and find your Divine Essence.
Recently I gave a webinar called ‘Simple Spirituality’ where I spoke about how to tap into your real self and bring spirituality into your life on a daily basis. Before the webinar, we received hundreds of questions from listeners wanting to know how to solve ongoing issues they had with self-belief and self-sabotage. I received this question from one woman on the webinar, which I thought was such a great example of what so many people ask me in my workshops, I thought I would share her question and my reply with you here.
QUESTION:
“Help me to improve my self! I’d like to be better but I’m afraid to be wrong and inadequate! I don’t know WHY and I’m not able to eliminate the voice that “sentences” me!!! It is inside me!!!”
ROY’S REPLY:
The mistake most people make is to want to eliminate the voices in your head. These voices are not you. These are what I call “echoes” from the past. In the first 7 years of our life, we do not have a critical mind to protect us from the environment and everything said will be stored in our subconscious mind. Later, these become like sub-personalities and inner critics, trying to take us down. So the first step is to know this and to disassociate from the voices.
It’s important to know that it makes no sense to fight these voices. When they speak, say gently and softly in your head, “Thank you for reminding me who I am not.” Then follow this with a powerful statement such as, “I am a worthy person deserving a great life. I love and accept myself just the way I am!” There are many other variations you can come up with.
The second step is to know that you are a Divine being made of Divine essence. This is often referred to as Universal Unconditional Love. That is who you are at your core. You can see this Divine Essence expressed through you, when you have expressed yourself in moments of compassion, wisdom, intuition, kindness and love.
You need to remind yourself of who you really are. The best time I found to do this is just before I go to sleep. I recall moments of the day that I was stressed or emotional or negative or aggressive and reacted in ways that did not express my Divine Essence. Then, I relive those moments, imagining that I am in my power and I ask myself how would I react if I were in my power? I relive those moments exactly as I would had I been connected to my Divine Source—fully at peace, not taking things personally, without fear of rejection or criticism, speaking and expressing my truth and stating my boundaries.
By doing this each night, we are training our brain how to act from power, and to respond consciously instead of reacting based on my conditioning and my ego (our fear-based self). In this way, step-by-step, you are returning to being whole again. You are returning to the person you truly are instead of being an expression of the learned conditioning from the past. This is called deprogramming or unlearning. It is the path to return home, to be who you are!
Strength and good luck!
